The different types of cannabis!

Nov 17, 2022

There’s more to cannabis than meets the eye – or the nose, for that matter. The term “cannabis” refers to a few different plants, each with their own unique properties and benefits. The two main types of cannabis are sativa and indica, which are used for a variety of medicinal and recreational purposes. Sativas are known for their “head high,” an invigorating, energizing effect that can help reduce anxiety or stress and increase creativity and focus. Indicas are typically associated with full-body effects, such as increasing deep relaxation and reducing insomnia. However, it’s important to note that individual plants produce varying effects, even among the same type of cannabis. It all depends on the plant’s chemical composition and the growing technique used. So, when it comes to choosing the right cannabis for you, it’s best to consult with a professional or browse the strains section on this site to find out what will work best for your needs.

Sativa plants are tall and thin with long finger-like leaves, found mainly in hot, dry climates with long sunny days. Including Places like Thailand! They can grow taller than 12 feet and takes longer to mature than some other types of cannabis. Sativa often has lower doses of CBD and higher doses of THC. It typically produces a “mind high,” or an energizing, anxiety-reducing effect. If you use sativa-dominant strains, you may feel more productive and creative. And the top reported effects of Sativa’s are feeling happy, uplifting, euphoric, and energetic. Because of its stimulating impact, you can use sativa in the daytime for these reasons. So, if you’re suffering from writer’s block or want to get into the zone before a work-out, boost your serotonin with a nice sativa strain! Or a Sativa dominant strain.

Indica plants are shorter and stockier than Sativas, they have chunky leaves that grow wide and broad. They typically grow faster than Sativas, and each plant produces more buds. Indicas are native to countries such as Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, and Turkey, and they have adapted to the often harsh, dry, and turbulent climate of the Hindu Kush mountains. In terms of effects, indica is sought after for its intensely relaxing properties. It helps reduce nausea and pain and increase appetite, reduce anxiety and help combat seizures.  Because of its deep relaxation effects, indica is better consumed at night. Perfect for low-key gatherings. So come chill on one of the beautiful beaches here in Phuket during the evening and let the weed and the sound of the waves completely soothe you. Hybrid cannabis strains are a mix of indica and sativa. The proportions can vary, but typically it is 60% indica / 40% sativa and vice versa or 50/50. The idea behind hybrids is to combine the best of both worlds – the uplifting and energetic effect of sativa with the relaxation and heaviness of indica. But what makes Hybrids special is that they can be customized to suit the individual grower. For example, a grower in Thailand might want a strain that is heavy on the sativa side, to counteract the hot, humid climate. On the other hand, a grower in Alaska might want a strain that is heavy on the indica side, to combat the long, dark winters. Hybrid cannabis strains offer something for everyone. So if you can’t decide between an indica and a sativa, why not try a hybrid? In our Hybrid section choose from an array of Hybrid strains.
